How quickly can your ranking change if you make the right changes? Well, yesterday ATLwebSTUDIO’s ranking with Alexa was 1,710,248. Today that ranking is 1,640,620. That’s 67,628 better than yesterday. Imagine how quickly your ranking can change by just a using a few of the methods that have been suggested?

Just a quick note on the ranking with Alex which I check daily. Now, remember Alex gives a ranking of all websites that it has indexed. The ranking for ATLwebSTUDIO for today is 1,710,248. That’s about 8,000 better than yesterday.
The Google ranking went from 157 to 122 in just a few days. I’ll try to give another update later this week.

Domain Name and SEO

Awhile back someone suggested that when ATLwebSTUDIO’s domain name came up for renewal to renew it for 5 years. I also added a video to one of the inner pages of the website (can you find it?). The reason given was that it adds strength to your Google ranking. Well, after renewing two weeks ago the ranking has shot up significantly. Not only has it gone up with Google but is has gone up with Alexa. The next time your domain comes up for renew or if you purchase a new domain name get it for 5 years. You will see instant results!

Alexa – 2,822,743
Yahoo- 3 to 20 (depending on keywords used)
Google- 13 to 190 (depending on keywords used)
Google page rank – 2

These rankings are completely organic (didn’t have to purchase adwords for a better ranking)

Web Design Usability

When a client comes to ATLwebSTUDIO sometimes they are so focused on the “look and feel” of their website that they fail to consider something even more important than that. Overlooking the overall usability can be a high mistake when planning out your website. There are several benefits to stressing usability: increased end-user satisfaction, increased end-user productivity, success, and completion , reduced long-term development costs,, reduced training and support costs, return business to improve your competitiveness.

Depending on what your desires are for your website there are certain things that you will want to analyze in order to have a successful web design. You will want to determine what are the goals for the website from the perspective of your business and from your website’s visitors perspective. What are the visitor’s needs and target usability requirements. Evaluate the existing versions of the site if it is a redesign. Perform an analysis of your competition. Perform interviews and surveys using visitors or potential visitors of your website.

This is just a start but it will put you a step ahead of all of your competition. After all the best way to get ahead is by starting in front.

1) Original text for each page. You can give me a list of pages with the text for each page.
2) Images. Use original images or images that you can get permission to use.
3) A list of preferred domain names listed in order of preference (if you don’t have a domain name).
4) If you have a domain name I will need the web address of the company that you purchased it from and the user ID and password to access the domain name.
5) If you already have hosting then I will the web address of the hosting service. I will also need a user ID and password to access your hosting service.
6) If you are doing an e-commerce site then I will the web address to access this service. I will also need the user ID and password to access this service.
7) Deposit. Half of the total cost of the site, hosting, and domain name. The deposit is refundable if the client is not satisfied with the Home page which will be the first page built. After which point only half of the deposit is refundable.
7) Any time frame given for completion of the site starts once all materials are received to complete the site.

Review the list and ask yourself if you are ready. Now get ready and make the call.

One small update on the SEO work on ATLwebSTUDIO . Our rank on Alexa has dropped some to about 7 million however we have a page rank of 1 on Google. Our ranking using our keywords has stayed about the same.

More SEO

We left off last time talking about SEO. So let me tell you up front that it is not easy and it takes time to get where you want to be.

Our Alexa rank as of 3/11/09 is 5,266,391. That’s a jump up of over 1,000,000 spots!!! As of 3/23/09 we finally got some results from one of our targets…Yahoo. If you do a Yahoo search of the keywords “Atlanta web site design companies” you will ATLwebSTUDIO at…..#102. But even bigger is our ranking for “Atlanta web design companies” is at ##55 with Yahoo. This is a major jump and change for us. It took less than 2 1/2 months to get there. Our goal for next month is to increase our Alexa rank by atleast another million, increase our yahoo rank on “Atlanta web design companies”, and get a ranking on another of our keywords or terms.

SEO Your Web Site

Years ago I knew what most people knew about SEO…use meta tags on your web site. Although I didn’t even know that it was called SEO. For those of you that are confused about SEO don’t feel alone because most people are confused.  SEO stands for search engine optimization.

If you plan on doing your own SEO for your web site there are several tools out there for you. One of my favorite tools is Firefox’s SEO Quake.
It’s great for SEO. There are many uses for it.You can even use it to check out your competition’s keywords.

Another great tool is Firefox’s Rank Checker. You can use this to check where your web site ranks in the search results of Google and Yahoo. You need Firefox 2.0 or higher for this but you already have it don’t you?

SEO is just as important as proper coding for your site. Don’t just put up a site. Put up a web site that people will see!!! You can check out my progress as I work on the SEO for my site at ATLwebSTUDIO.

An undate on our SEO of our web site. Oyr Alexa rank is now at 6,330,589. That’s a jump of over 13,000,000. Wow. We still don’t have any rank on Google or Yahoo using keywords but we expect results soon.

Welcome to the very first blog of ATLwebSTUDIO.  Since we’re new to you let’s take a little time to introduce ourselves. ATLwebSTUDIO is a small group of knowledgeable web designers, developers, and marketers that are commited and compasionate about web design.

We’ve been in business for over two years and plan to stay in business many more.  We offer  website design, website maintenance/upgrades, domain names,website hosting, e-commerce, shopping carts and flash.

Located in Atlanta, G.A. our aim is to create quality websites with a strong empasis on proper coding.  Proper coding?  Every site that looks good is not properly coded. Why should you be concerned with proper coding if the site looks good? An improperly coded site  could have search engine issues. Can you say Google or Yahoo? Also, it might look great on your PC but what about your clients PC? Don’t let poor coding ruin your efforts to have a good online presence. Just one of the many reasons to use ATLwebSTUDIO where we value quality over quantity.

One subject that we will be focusing on is SEO. It’s impossible to get your ranking from Google or Yahoo unless you are 200 or higher. So, we focused on what was available…Alexa. As on today our ranking is …19,731,923. Well, not good but atleast yo know that we will be honest with you. We checked our ranking on Yahoo and Google using several key words and terms and didn’t get any results ( not under 200).
